  • Despite COVID-19 causing market decline in 2020, the total gearbox market is projected to grow throughout the remainder of the forecast period, effectively surpassing its 2019 level in 2022. After which, the market is expected to continue to experience slow steady growth.
  • Of all the major product types considered, geared motors were projected to experience the fastest growth (CAGR of 3.6%) to 2024. This business will grow faster than average as OEMs and end-users increasingly see the benefit of purchasing packaged solutions from a single vendor.
  • Industrial heavy-duty gearboxes (including parallel and bevel heavy-duty products) were the second largest gearbox market, although their outlook was much more subdued. The performance of these product markets are tied more closely to “heavier” industries performing less well currently such as metals and mining (and closely related industries).
  • Planetary products (including solo gearboxes and combined geared motor solutions) with a broad torque range and application uses across a complete set of industries and machinery sectors (encompassing both light and heavy-duty applications) will perform largely inline with the market average.
